I released the second version of eZVideoFLV. This is the first version compatible with eZ Publish 4 and PHP5. I would like to thank Kåre Køhler Høvik who initiated the portage to PHP5. This version also brings small bugfixes and a better debug output to the cronjob script.

eZVideoFLV is an extension providing a datatype to store, handle and convert to FLV video files. It's based on the default ezmedia datatype. It mainly adds three features :

  • generate an image preview for each video file using ffmpeg-php and GD
  • detect and store video size width ffmpeg-php too
  • convert video file to FLV on upload or with a cronjob script in order to be readable with a flash FLV player (like on Youtube or Dailymotion) using ffmpeg program

The extension is bundled with FLV Player which is released under the MPL 1.1 license. The rest of the extension is released under the GNU GPL licence 2.

We have watched as a flurry of articles, blogs, discussions have appeared about OpenSocial since it was launched by Google. Regardless of the politics of discussing Google v Facebook I want to get on and try it out.

My aim for this project is is simply to produce a working implementation of the OpenSocial API within eZ.

I encourage everyone to read the OpenSocial API: http://code.google.com/apis/opensocial.

It is very suprising how incomplete it is! As I do presently like Google I fully expect the API to evolve quickly and eventually mature. By then we should be in a very good position to support our users's content across eZ and non-eZ sites.

Of all the vulnerabilities affecting web applications, especially those written in PHP, Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) and Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) are by far the most prevalent. In many instances, developers downplay the severity of these threats and fail to take preventative action.

In this article, we will show you how CSRF and XSS work and how to defend against them. To dispel the myths about these attacks, I will assume the role of a hacker and show how the supposedly harmless injection of tiny bits of HTML can perform amazing things, from stealing the user's identity to a completely transparent rewrite of site content.

The project Subversion repositories have been initialized for all existing projects and will be created for new projects a few minutes after registration and approval.

You can now register an account to test the projects site by following the link Register new user in the upper right corner (if you're not logged in yet).

Finally there's a test site for the improved eZ projects section, which will replace the current contributions section and the pubsvn community repository.
